Following the horrific and indefensible killing of George Floyd by ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, the United States remains in a state of unrest. This unrest has led to riots in the streets and the loss of more life through violence beget by frustration over the perceived lack of respect for black lives.
In the nation’s capital, BLACK LIVES MATTER was painted on two blocks of 16th Street NW and the area was renamed Black Lives Matter Plaza. This gesture was intended to send a powerful message that black human life matters and should be respected by the laws of our nation and those who enforce them.
As you consider the obvious truth of this statement, realize that the Carol Whitehill Moses Planned Parenthood facility operates just 20 blocks due east of Black Lives Matter Plaza. This abortion center destroys over 3,000 black lives every year in the District of Columbia. Over 76% of babies killed by abortion in the city are black compared to 19% of white babies. Nationally, 295,000 black lives are destroyed by abortion every year. These black children are most often killed by white abortionists paid to end their lives.
Planned Parenthood was founded by Margaret Sanger, a known racist and eugenicist who sought to rid the world of ‘life unfit for life’, especially those lives belonging to the black community. Even today, Planned Parenthood honors its most ardent supporters with the Margaret Sanger award. Its recipients include former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
In a city now emblazoned with the message that black lives matter on its city streets, it’s important to note that the district has the least restrictive abortion laws in the country. Abortions are not required to be committed by a licensed physician; the district does not ban late-term abortions; and there are no requirements that abortions be committed at a hospital or with a second doctor present. Adding to the injustice, there are public funds available for mothers seeking to end the lives of their children.
If the city truly cared about black lives they would paint those striking words in bold print along 4th Street NE right in front of the Planned Parenthood facility that is destroying innocent black lives on a daily basis — fully supported by the people who claim to respect them.
