The top reasons given by mothers who abort their children include not wanting them to interfere with their educational goals, not wanting to financially support them, and not wanting to be a single parent.
Other reasons include not wanting to raise a child with mental or physical challenges, including children with Down syndrome, spina bifida, and cleft palate.
Every one of these excuses for terminating a baby in the womb could also be used to justify killing a newborn, yet no jury would find this defense compelling. They would, like you and I, know that ending the life of another human being because you don’t want them in your life is indefensible. Somehow, we allow this grotesque injustice to continue based on the victim’s location alone.
Mothers who kill their babies prior to birthing them are getting away with murder because of a few words typed on a piece of paper. Words can’t absolve the guilt of those who commit the depraved act of ripping a child apart anymore than words can raise the dead.
