Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer is a somber exploration of the atrocities committed by Dr. Kermit Gosnell at his Women’s Medical Society abortion center in Philadelphia. This movie is well made and will hold your attention throughout. Opening with the backstory of how drug enforcement activity led to the discovery of Gosnell’s multiple murders of babies who survived their abortions, the movie transitions into the trial largely ignored by the media.
Careful attention to detail was paid to the raid on Gosnell’s abortion facility, giving us a glimpse into the darkness that consumed all who entered this house of horrors. The atmosphere is dank and foreboding, allowing you to share in the despair of those who visited this place to kill and sometimes be killed.
The testimony depicted in the movie was based on the transcripts of the real trial held in 2013. Both the prosecution and defense were well represented, striking a balance that allowed the audience to draw their own conclusions. A conclusion that few, regardless of what side of the abortion debate you find yourself on, would disagree with.
This is a story that needed to be told and a story that everyone should see.
