These monoamniotic twins were tragically lost during an ectopic pregnancy. Monoamniotic twins are always identical, always monochorionic and are usually termed Monoamniotic-Monochorionic (“MoMo” or “Mono Mono”) twins. In addition to sharing an amniotic sac, they also share the placenta, but have two separate umbilical cords.
Though they lived tragically short lives, these twins are helping millions of people understand that they, too, were real people prior to their birth. These babies also illuminate the reality that a child’s body is wholly separate from the person carrying them during pregnancy, just as the body of each of these twins is wholly separate from their sibling’s.
