Ireland has joined other nations in denying the rights of their most vulnerable members to simply live among us. Those who voted to repeal Ireland’s Constitutional protection of prenatal children could only do so because they themselves were protected by it.
Yes, history was made in Ireland on May 25th, 2018, just like history was made in the United States on January 22, 1973. Since Roe v. Wade stripped America’s prenatal children of their human rights, over 60,000,000 have been slaughtered in the home of the ‘brave’.
Germany once made history as well, when over 11,000,000 Jews and other minority groups were denied their human rights.
This is a sad day for not only Ireland, but for the world. Ireland represented the last standing nation that explicitly protected the rights of every one of its people in its foundational charter, regardless of their size, age, location or level of dependency.
While those who voted Yes to repeal this basic human rights protection celebrate, it’s important to reflect on exactly what they are celebrating the right to now do on Irish soil:
The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right.
Welcome, Ireland, to the wrong side of history. This decision will forever stain your nation.
