Our Lady of Guadalupe Virgin Mary Abortion

This image captures both the utter disrespect for the belief system of others and the cruelty of abortion. On International Women’s Day, these feminists committed a mock abortion on the Virgin Mary in front of a Catholic church, depicting the act of ripping Jesus Christ from her womb. What these women fail to understand is that abortion isn’t about religion, it’s about the human rights of prenatal children. As an atheist, I respectfully stand with any organization, group, or person to end the atrocity of abortion, regardless of their religious beliefs. Respect for others begins with a respect for human life.

A plea to win the hearts of those who choose to dehumanize our development and undermine our right to live.

  1. That is in pretty poor taste, and I question your statement that it is not about religion. If it were about the rights of a fetus only, abortion would be pretty much unilaterally legal per bodily autonomy. As is, we place a fetus basically above the law since it can commandeer the body of a pregnant person, who would otherwise be able to deny any part of themselves to any party – be it adult, child, or fetus.

  2. I’m suspicious that you’re not an atheist. You’re right that abortion isn’t about religion – abortion is about human rights. It’s about the right of every women to determine when she grows or gives birth to a child. Ensuring women have access to legal and safe abortion facilities stops suffering for both women and children.

If you don’t like the idea of abortion, you’re perfectly free not to have an abortion if you find yourself with an unwanted pregnancy. As an allegedly non-religious person, your claim to have a stake in whether unsentient beings grow to a state of viability within someone else’s body is illogical to say the least.
