First, I want to apologize for the brutality of our era. We killed millions upon millions of our children, deluding ourselves into a belief that preborn human beings were disposable, that they could be killed on demand and without apology. Sadly, we had no excuse. Science clearly showed us that human life begins at conception. During this time, we developed advanced ultrasound technology that made this truth undeniable.
Yet we continued to kill without compassion or empathy. We allowed the strong to brutalize the weak. We reversed the role of parent and child. We clung to the idea that we should sacrifice our children instead of sacrificing for them. We called this a ‘right’ while ignoring the rights of our own offspring.
As you look back on us with disgust and disappointment, just know that there were some who fought relentlessly against this human failing — millions in fact. Just as those before us fought against the tragedies of genocide, slavery, and segregation. I wish I knew when the killing would end, all I can tell you is that I fought until the end of my days to build a world you would be proud to inherit and I hope you do the same for those who follow you. I am optimistic that we will awaken from this nightmare, that we will find the strength to once again elevate our children above ourselves.
Please forgive us, we were lost for so long.
