Since when is selfishness always a bad thing? I mean, everyone is selfish sometimes, even you. Putting oneself (and one’s well-being) first is a natural, normal part of being human. It’s how we keep ourselves alive and thriving. So why do you seem to think it’s okay for you to be selfish sometimes, but it’s not okay for a pregnant woman to ever be selfish? Why hold pregnant women to different standards than you hold yourself to?

Yes, we are all selfish sometimes. But what you fail to understand is that selfishness, like all human behaviors, has socially acceptable limits and when those limits are exceeded they must be controlled by others. If one’s selfishness becomes so extreme that its manifestation results in the death of another human being, as with abortion, then that limit has clearly been reached.

Let’s explore the lives of two children, one whose mother was selfless…

In Defense of the Defenseless

and one whose mother was selfish…

In Defense of the Defenseless

Both of these babies reached their 24th week of life before leaving the womb. One was fought for and one was fought against. One born, one aborted. Both equally valuable as human beings.

A plea to win the hearts of those who choose to dehumanize our development and undermine our right to live.
