1. The term ‘fetus’ simply describes a stage of human life and is Latin for ‘offspring’.

2. When each of us were a fetus, we were sentient. We could hear sounds just 16 weeks following our conception, kick and move at 18 weeks, and respond to voices at 23 weeks.

3. We were a fetus seconds prior to our birth. Do you think we suddenly gained sentience just because we slipped down our mother’s vagina or do you think we had sentience while living in the womb?

4. Sentience does not define a human being. Should it be legal to kill comatose people on demand and without apology?
