Following the killing of an innocent lion by a trophy hunter in Africa, Dr. Jane Goodall made the following comment…

I was shocked and outraged to hear the story of Cecil, Zimbabwe’s much loved lion. Not only is it incomprehensible to me that anyone would want to kill an endangered animal (fewer than 20,000 wild lions in Africa today) but to lure Cecil from the safety of a national park and then to shoot him with a crossbow. I have no words to express my repugnance. He was not even killed outright, but suffered for hours before finally being shot with a bullet. And his magnificent head severed from his wounded body. And this behaviour is described as a “sport”. Only one good thing comes out of this – thousands of people have read the story and have also been shocked. Their eyes opened to the dark side of human nature. Surely they will now be more prepared to fight for the protection of wild animals and the wild places where they live. Therein lies the hope.

Now imagine if she were as shocked by the killing of innocent human beings by Planned Parenthood…

I was shocked and outraged to hear the story of America’s preborn children. Not only is it incomprehensible to me that anyone would want to kill a defenseless unborn child (3,000 are killed every day) but to rip them from the safety of their mother’s womb and then market their organs. I have no words to express my repugnance. They are not even killed outright, but often suffer while their limbs are twisted from their torsos. And their magnificent heads severed from their wounded bodies. And this behaviour is described as a “choice”. Only one good thing comes out of this – thousands of people have read the story and have also been shocked. Their eyes opened to the dark side of human nature. Surely they will now be more prepared to fight for the protection of unborn children and the mothers that carry them. Therein lies the hope.

Of course, Dr. Goodall didn’t say this. Why? Because like most people, she is more outraged by the killing of an animal than she is by the killing of an innocent living human being. Someday, we will awaken to the tragedy of human abortion. Someday, we will reclaim our humanity.
