Two palms pressed together in a symbol of hope. And it was only hope that Victoria Simmonds had – as her son Kaven pressed his tiny hand into hers. Kaven had been born at just 23 weeks – one of the most premature babies ever born in the UK. As he hung onto life he managed to battle through a flesh eating bacteria that was destroying the inside of his tiny stomach, and he underwent a staggering six operations and FIFTY blood transfusions to survive.
