I’m reading Peter Pan and at the very beginning, when Wendy is born, Mr. and Mrs. Darling sit down to decide if they can keep the baby or give it up based on money, and Mr. Darling figures that if he gives up his morning coffee, scrape up all they can find, and stick to their budget even in hard times, they can afford to raise the baby. That is responsible parenting–putting the baby before anything else, even your convenience. Thank you for this blog. I wish you every happiness in the world!
The Darling’s got it right. They knew that killing their daughter in the womb was never a choice. That their choices were to raise her themselves or to place her with a loving family with the resources required to care for and protect her. Two things are certain: life doesn’t always have a happy ending and abortion never does.
