Picture this: my daughter is on life support, and the doctors tell me there is a 99.9% chance she will recover within a few months. But I just don’t have the money/time to take care of her anymore, or she reminds me too much of someone I hate. So instead of waiting for what they tell me is her inevitable recovery, I tell them to give her a lethal injection, or take surgical instruments and started hacking off her limbs while she’s still alive. They crush her skull and remove her organs for donation, then when all is said and done, they turn off the machine.
Now imagine that this “procedure” is routine nationwide for parents of children on life support who have the same 99.9% chance of recovering, and is supported by a large percentage of the population in the name of “a parent’s right to choose.”
THAT is the difference.
