Of course people have sex for reasons other than getting pregnant. If they didn’t, there would be no market for contraceptives. What you are missing, in fact, what you are ignorant to, is that the purpose – the very reason for the evolutionary development of sexual reproduction and the act of sexual intercourse itself, is to impregnate the female member of one’s species. Our intense desire for sex and its orgasmic reward is simply our unconscious mind’s way of tricking us into reproduction, no matter the intent of our conscious mind. Every single time a male ejaculates into a fertile female’s vagina, whether he or she is using contraceptives or not, a new human being may result. And when this event occurs, that human being was no accident – their conception was intended by evolution and their life is therefore just as important and just as worthy of protection as any other human being’s life.
