You have accomplished something that is extremely difficult for most people: you have overcome your cognitive dissonance. Most people who believe that mothers should have the choice to kill the children they cradle in their wombs are at odds with themselves. Deep down, they know that killing these children is wrong, but they believe that women must be able to kill in order to reach equality with men. This simply is not true.
A pregnant mother is a beautiful manifestation of nature’s incredible ability to create new life. Both her and her child should be honored, protected, and nurtured by their society. They should come before every other priority of our government, no questions asked. Somehow, we have lost sight of this. Somehow, we have let the notion that some human beings are more valuable than other human beings drive us to legalize the killing of the innocent in the interest of placing the wants of the strong over the needs of the weak. You have now joined a movement that rejects this ideology. By placing the interests of the weak and the vulnerable above your own, you have now become more than you were before. And you should be very proud of that.
