“When I heard that some politicians were cheering the Supreme Court’s decision to give bosses the right to interfere in our access to birth control, I thought I had woken up in another decade. Like many of my friends, I was appalled by the thought of men taking away women’s ability to make our own personal health care decisions.”
—Scarlett Johansson, in a fundraising email for Planned Parenthood
We knew Scarlett Johansson was a huge Planned Parenthood supporter, so the news that she designed a special T-shirt for them (story here:http://bit.ly/1tEP0XW) is not surprising—just incredibly sad. Her new T-shirt portrays all pro-life politicians as sexist men who are stuck in the ’50s.
The problem is that Scarlett seems to be completely forgetting (or conveniently ignoring) politicians like Congresswomen Jaime Herrera Beutler and Ann Wagner, who are only two of MANY pro-life FEMALE politicians (a complete list of the pro-life women Scarlett forgot can be found here:http://bit.ly/1tEP3mv).
So we ask you, Ms. Johansson: Is it pro-woman to ignore the voices of a significant number of female politicians and pretend that they’re all “sexist men” just because you disagree with them?
It sounds rather sexist to us, Ms. Johansson.
