If you truly want scientific facts regarding abortion, then it might be helpful to look at the actual objective scientific facts, and do away with inaccurate claims that have been wrongfully advanced in the discussion of abortion.

“When does human life begin?” is a relatively simple scientific question, and there is already an actual international consensus of human embryologists on the matter.  Getting a handle on just a few basic human embryological terms accurately can considerably clarify the drastic difference between the “scientific” myths that are currently circulating, and the actual objective scientific facts.

Scientifically speaking, there is absolutely no question whatsoever that the immediate product of fertilization is a newly existing human being.  Scientifically, upon fertilization, parts (sperm and oocyte) of human beings have actually been transformed into something very different from what they were before: they have been changed into a single, whole human being. During the process of fertilization, the sperm and the oocyte cease to exist as such, and a new human being is produced.  A single-cell embryonic human zygote is a genetically unique, newly existing, individual, whole living human being.

It is not a “potential” or a “possible” human being.  It’s an actual human being.  It is not a sub-human or a pre-human.  There is no such thing as a “lesser human.”  We do not become “more human” when we are born.  Birth is merely a dramatic event during development resulting in a change in environment. And we are not finished developing at birth; our development continues even after birth!

A plea to win the hearts of those who choose to dehumanize our development and undermine our right to live.
