antiprolife:

Ugh. It’s disgusting that cultureshift would even take this person’s story and twist it to fit his own agenda in the first place, but it’s always even more saddening to see someone with public influence (regardless of who they are influencing…) spreading things like that around.

Bristol Palin and her amazing mother understand the value of all human life. Sarah Palin gave birth to Trig Palin, a child she knew was afflicted with Down syndrome early in her pregnancy. She did what less than 10% of mothers carrying a child prenatally diagnosed with this genetic disorder do – she gave him the gift of a birthday. Nine out of ten Down syndrome babies are killed in the womb by their own families.

And to correct your assumptions, the mother and family featured in the post Bristol linked to, Meet Walter Joshua Fretz – A Human Being, are pro-life. They shared their story for the very purpose of demonstrating the humanity of an unborn child. So there was no ‘twisting’ or manipulation of anyone’s pain for my own purposes. Read this quote from Walter’s mother:

“In his short life of just a few minutes he has touched more lives then I ever could have imagined. I have gotten messages from people all around the country who have experienced a loss or were just touched by his story. I’ve even had a few people tell me that they were able to use his photos to reach out to a hurting woman who was contemplating an abortion. Just because the child within cannot be seen by us does not mean that he is a blob of cells. Walter was perfectly formed and very active in the womb. If he had just a few short more weeks he would have had a fighting chance at life.”

Walter was a devastating loss to his family, but he has touched the world in amazing ways. I am confident that his pictures and the story of his short life have saved many children who would have otherwise been abandoned to abortion.

On fb yesterday, Bristol Palin shared a link from cultureshift\'s tumblr. It was a heartbreaking story about a mother who had a miscarriage at 19 weeks. I know someone who has gone through that & I can attest to how horrible of an experience it is. However, cultureshift disgustingly took this mother\'s pain and turned it into a prolife argument. It saddens me that a public figure (though I use the term loosely in this case) helps pass along cultureshift\'s ridiculous and invalid prolife arguments.
