I’m pro-life too, except in cases of rape. I didn’t used to think abortion was acceptable (EVER), but then I was raped, and I realized early-term abortion really should be available in cases like that, although I would never personally go that route. What are your thoughts on that?

cultureshift:

First, it’s important for you to realize that your belief that a child conceived by rape is less valuable than others and should be killed by abortion when desired effectively makes you ‘pro-choice’.

Second, it’s important to understand that a new human being is created at the moment of fertilization, a fertilization that this person has no control over. We must separate the cause of our fertilization from the effect of our fertilization. To do otherwise in the case of rape is to transfer the guilt borne by the father to the innocent child. This often results in the injustice of the child receiving the death penalty for the actions of their father.

Please watch this video to hear from a fellow human being who was conceived through rape and then take a moment to reconsider your position. The life of a child must never be compromised. Once an exception is rationalized to justify the slaughter of innocent human beings, we all lose a valuable piece of ourselves — our humanity.
