Why is bodily autonomy considered selfish? I’m not sure I agree with you there. It’s important to be able to have ownership of your body. Isn’t it why crimes like rape are particularly abhorrent; because it completely overrides one’s will regarding who is to use their body and what for?

Although the claim of bodily autonomy is often selfish, it is the embodiment of selfishness when applied to pregnancy. We did not engineer human reproduction, it evolved over millions of years of adaptation as a means to perpetuate our species. Abortion attempts to circumvent this system by killing our own young in the name of convenience or for the euthanasia of the mentally or physically disabled.

Of course, not wanting to be raped, or injured in any other way, is not selfish and is a poor comparison to the killing of prenatal children. Rape and abortion are wrong for the same reason — they are both a violent assault against another person’s body.
