Location Doesn't Affect Value

uchicagostudentsforlife:

Location doesn’t affect value.

ghost-plot:

Yes, the fact that a person has a fetus located inside them does not mean that the pregnant person loses value. No one should ever have to remain pregnant against their will. People have rights and one of those rights is bodily autonomy. A fetus doesn’t have bodily autonomy and does not have the right to infringe upon a person’s rights.

cultureshift:

You are right, the fact that a person has an child located inside them does not mean that they lose value. In fact, they gain value because their body is now sustaining multiple lives. Her prenatal child’s body holds no less value than her body. Dependency doesn’t determine humanity in the same way location doesn’t determine value.

Bodily autonomy does not trump the right to live. Human reproduction requires a mother to gestate her child while pregnant, it is the very purpose of the womb. To kill the human being living inside that womb is an infringement on that person’s most basic human rights. We will correct this great injustice someday.

A plea to win the hearts of those who choose to dehumanize our development and undermine our right to live.
