I think that everyone (& thing, for that matter) is equal. I agree with you that an unborn child is the same as anybody else. My issue with “pro-life” comes from the fact that there are 2 situations – the 1st where the mother is forced to keep the child, and has to live & feel the pain or trauma from an unwanted child (and that child’s possible pain.) The 2nd is where there is an abortion – the foetus will not remember or feel anything, as it no longer exists, & the woman is not in pain.

I will attempt to unravel the moral dysphoria you are experiencing.

You believe that everyone is equal, including the preborn, so…

PRENATAL HUMAN = NEONATAL HUMAN = PERSONHOOD

You then place two conditions on this equation…

  1. IF (MOTHER FORCED TO KEEP CHILD) THEN PRENATAL HUMAN ≠ NEONATAL HUMAN ≠ PERSONHOOD

  2. IF (PRENATAL HUMAN DOES NOT FEEL PAIN OR REMEMBER) THEN PRENATAL HUMAN ≠ NEONATAL HUMAN ≠ PERSONHOOD

Your two conditions make the first equation false, which was your original statement. You therefore do not agree with yourself that a prenatal child is the same as anybody else because, I assume, you would not advocate for killing an infant under the two conditions you set. After all, if I take a meat cleaver and instantly sever the head of an infant, it will satisfy your two conditions just as if I aborted that same child while living in the womb.

In order to get your moral compass back on azimuth, I recommend you remove your conditions and stick to your original statement.
