Why Rape Happens

You and people like you are why rape happens. Because you and people like you think that other people – particularly women – have no right to control their bodies. You and people like you think that women should put their bodies and souls at the service of others, regardless of what the women want. Your position about abortion is exactly the same as rape.

This is the most flawed logic I have ever responded to. I would normally let a comment this devoid of common sense sink to the bottom with all of the anonymous hate, but I just can’t let it go.

Rape is a violation of basic human rights and bodily autonomy for the same reason abortion is — it’s an assault on another person’s body against their will. You will claim that a prenatal child is not sentient and is unaware of an assault on his or her body by an abortionist. But it is obvious that they intend to be born, intend to live, by the fact that they are rapidly growing and preparing for their birthday.

You are partially right on one point however — women should put their bodies at the service others: their prenatal sons and daughters. Human reproduction requires a gestational period and none of us can change that fact. It is how we evolved to function and we simply must embrace it.

There is never a good enough reason to intentionally kill an innocent human being. Never.
