My husband and I found that we were pregnant halfway through my master’s degree. Although we chose life for our baby, we knew it would be a difficult year to come. My academic adviser suggested that I take time off or consider termination of the pregnancy.
Nothing would stop this mama, I was determined to have my baby and finish my degree. Thinking about having her there to watch me receive my degree, and being able to hold her in my cap and gown got me through the hardest days.
This photo represents more than you could imagine for me. Baby Renee and I even finished the program EBP until 8 months, a 4.0 grade point average, and strong attachments to one another. My degree is in social work, and I hope that my example to help others will inspire a little helper in her.
