A Loss of Respect

anonymous:

What do you have to say to people like me? I know abortion is killing another human being (yes, a zygote will eventually become a fetus which will eventually become a baby which will eventually become a full grown real human being–I’m aware) but I don’t care, because the benefits of abortion far outweigh the death of a someone who wouldn’t or couldn’t be taken care of. I don’t see pro-lifers lining down the block to adopt foster kids and kids who were given up. Suffering is worse than death.

The first thing I will comment on is that your post is very refreshing. You actually admit that abortion is the intentional killing of a living human being. You just gained my respect.

You then state that you don’t care because suffering is worse than death. You just lost my respect.

You go on to state that you don’t see pro-lifers lining the streets to adopt children. Though I’m an atheist, I applaud the incredible commitment to ‘unwanted’ children made by many churches, especially the Catholic church.

They also heavily support pregnancy resource centers, focusing on alternatives to abortion by providing resources to assist mothers with raising their children and guiding them through the adoption process if requested.

In contrast, abortions made up 92% of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy services in 2011, while prenatal care and adoption referrals accounted for only 7% (28,674) and 0.6% (2,300), respectively. For every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood killed 145 prenatal children.

I don’t see abortion advocates lining the street to do anything but champion for the continuation of the killing.
