If you’re against abortion, don’t get an abortion, but don’t stop others from choosing to have one. Legal abortion does not interfere with your right to not have an abortion; legislating abortion goes against my right to choose what to do with my life. At 15 I got pregnant, even with precaution. I got an abortion and I don’t regret it as I now go to an internationally renowned university, something I would never have been able to do with a child. That doesn’t make me a bad person.

I’m sure you have heard this before, but your argument of ‘if you’re against abortion, don’t get an abortion’ is the same thing as ‘if you’re against murder, just don’t murder anyone.’ We have laws in place to discourage and punish. There is not one law on the books that hasn’t been broken, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pass them.

You are an example of the problem with our culture today. Your selfishness is glaring yet you don’t even see it. You are concerned about getting to go to a ‘renowned university’, but not concerned that your child got to go to the incinerator, where he or she will never have the opportunity to go to school, to feel the sun on his or her face, or to know the loving embrace of their mother.

You are only a bad person because you have not yet realized your own capacity for selfishness. When this realization comes over you and you not only change your mind about the senseless killing of prenatal children, but begin to advocate for their defense, you will be a good person. I know you have it in you.
